>> America Or Busted > Episode 3: Radio Play

Rundown of what happens:
Coming soon.

Detailed overview from mtv.com:
With their first live American performance coming up, we find the guys in excellent spirits this week. They are heading to New Jersey for a gig involving the number one radio station in the country, Z100. Fletch rounds up the guys but Matt emerges still tired after having spent the previous night partying with two American chicks. The girls didn't make such a good impression on this Busted hottie. Matt discloses that he abandoned his British charm and ditched them in a club.

Matt shrugs off his need for sleep and the guys head to Point Pleasant, New Jersey for their gig. As they wander around the beach in the beautiful weather, their excitement is short lived. They are shocked to see an amazingly tacky setup as they approach the stage area. Attempting to remain optimistic, the group begins sound check only to learn that the equipment does not sound good and that Z100 reps are nowhere to be found.

Fletch immediately calls Dave from Top 40 radio who contributes to the wave of bad news. He informs Fletch that Z100 will not be promoting the gig at all. It will instead simply be a performance at the beach...in front of a crowd of mostly families. Breaking more bad news to the guys is not a fun task but Fletch has to do it. Upon hearing that Z100 is no longer involved with the gig, the guys are furious. Matt laments that there is no reason for them to even do the performance. After letting the guys vent, Fletch tells them to do the best they can and, ever the professionals, the guys go out and rock. They draw a sizeable crowd and even motivate one girl to write Busted on her stomach. Looks like the guys may be picking up American fans after all.

Back at the hotel, Matt and James discuss the day's events. They maintain their positive outlook by reflecting on how far they've come since the days of writing songs in each other's houses. At the same time, Matt acknowledges that if Busted do not make it in America, he will be upset.

Determined to infiltrate American radio, Fletch and the guys discuss their new plan of action over breakfast the next day. They are planning to start a US radio promotional tour that will take them through middle America in order to get airplay in smaller markets.

The first stop on the tour is a Shreveport, Louisiana radio station. Dave accompanies the crew and schmoozes with program managers to get Busted's single on the air. Thankfully, they learn that they are featured on an R&R magazine cover, which will get their names and faces in front of lots of radio executives. However, once again bad news quickly follows good news because the program manager at the station does not agree to play Busted's single--despite Dave's pleas. Thankfully, Dave does arrange for the guys to go on air with one of the radio station's personalities but even that turns a bit sour when the DJ requests that the guys give listeners a sample of their song by singing it live a capella on air. The guys aren't big on that idea at all and gracefully decline.

After leaving their mark in Shreveport, Busted are off to Tulsa. The guys make their own fun on the tour bus. They soon decide that it would be tons of fun to have Matt smack Charlie's arm repeatedly with the ironically titled book Mr. Nice in order to see how hard he can hit his band mate. The fun ends when the guys arrive in Tulsa and they hit up the next radio station in hopes of getting some airplay. It's a mixed bag; the station's program director acknowledges that the guys have girl appeal but he doesn't agree to play their single either.

At dinner, Busted discuss everything from American eating habits to their discouraging encounters with radio station executives. Needing something to relieve their stress, they start their own mini food fight in the restaurant before heading back to the tour bus.

James and Fletch catch up on their way to their next destination. James doesn't know what to make of a weird message he received from his girlfriend Kara. Fletch offers his wisdom and suggests that James invite her to New York City to visit. Seeming excited about the idea, James heads off to chat with her. Having helped solve another mini Busted crisis, Fletch seems satisfied--but who knows what issues will arise on next week's episode!
