Us girls love a lad who can make us giggle, so we asked the Busted boys to out-funny each other for us!
Only a year ago, Southend lads James and Matt dreamed of being in a band. They places an ad for a third member and along came 6'2 stunner Charlie, 17, and ta-da – Busted were born! Still buzzin' from their success of their debut single 'What I Go To School For', we prised the cheeky trio away from their North London bachelor pad for a game of pool and a natter. Laugh? We nearly cried! But whose quick wits will get your heart racing? Remember: you can only pick one..
MATT
What did the 0 say to the 8?
I like your belt
Warning! The eldest of the Busted trio, Mattie Jay, is a big fan of practical jokes - and a master of not getting caught.
"Me and Aaron Kemp, my best mate at school, were always mucking about," he laughs. But surely he can be serious when it comes to girls? "No way!" he says grinning "I once broke the ice with a girl in a club by asking: 'excuse me, have you farted?' She couldn’t stop laughing. It's genius!" Hmm, not sure it would work on us, Matt.
"I always get girls who make me laugh at the beginning," he says, "but then they turn into right moody madams! I tend to go for quite loud scary girls but maybe I need someone to say, 'No Matt don’t do that' when I have a mad idea. That's it! I need a mum-girlfriend!'
From the other side of the room, Charlie's keen to tell us more. "Ask him about when his trousers fell down at party in the park!" he shouts. Matt recounts horrific moments when his kecks hit the floor in front of thousands. One thing has become clear: Matt likes to mess around, but he can take it smiling when the gaff's on him - and that makes him one top boy!
CHARLIE
A man walks into a bar and says.. ouch!
Busted baby, Charlie Simpson, has being lovin' his female attention he’s been getting of late. "I definitely get approached by more girls since I joined the band," he grins.
But if you've got ideas about nabbing this boy, a sense of humour is essential: "I think it’s more important that a girl can make you laugh," Charlie explains, "but not in loud over-the-top way - that's really unsexy. I like girls who are quick witted and and can say some thing sharp on the spur of the moment."
Unlike Matt, Charlie's not a practical joker, and the other two find him naturally funny. "Charlie's got his own unique sense of humour," James explains, "He often says things like, 'ahh, the vulgarity of it all!' and puts 'idge' or 'ster' onto the end of words - like he calls us 'Matt-idge', it's so random!"
"Charlie's unbelievably clumsy, too," Matt pipes up. "You cant help laughing because it's entertaining. If he's drinking orange juice, you know that it's going to end up all down him or if he's opening sweets you'll just know they'll end up everywhere. It's hilarious!" Never mind Charlie, with those looks, you can fall over us anytime.
JAMES
What's brown and sticky?
A stick
James's cheeky face gives the impression that, no matter how naughty he's been, he only has to smile and he is forgiven.
'I was so cheeky at school,' he confirms. 'I once drew a caricature of this girl in my art class, thinking she would find it funny 'cause she was quite fit, but she took massive offense and showed it to everyone, including the teachers. Everyone started laughing though, and it just looked like she couldn't take a joke!”
Comedy seems to work for James when it comes to girls too. 'I impersonated this girl I met at singing classes,' he says. 'She used to slop in late, so one day I did the same. She found it hilarious so we started going out!'
Being a mimic is second nature to James. 'He's got a funny capacity to pick up on the funny things about people,' Matt says. 'He can always repeat jokes back to you after watching a funny film. He could be the next comic genius!'
