The Busted boys are on day release from Planet Pop and they've got one thing on their minds - hijinks! Stand back, ladies, this could get messy..

"Uh-oh," shouts James, "Charlie's bleeding!"

Busted have been messing about on a skateboard, a scooter and a kid's BMX bike for the J17 photo shoot and Charlie's been injured in the call of duty. He's knocked a scab off his knee and it's bleeding. Lots. Yuck! They take a break from the shoot so that Charlie can get a plaster and some TLC, but off-camera they're just as mental and enthusiastic. The fun is just beginning!
About to release But You Said No, their third single, Busted's last six months have been crazily hectic and mega successful. They might look like they all could do with a good kip, but Mattie, James and Charlie are as happy and down-to-earth as they were when we met them last September. And we're pleased to report that chart success hasn't made them a bit starry.
In between photos and the J17 grilling, the Busted boys are being, well, the Busted boys. Jams is writing lyrics for a new song and doing a fab rendition of Justin's Cry Me A River, Charlie is burping and still managing to make us swoon and Mattie is darting around on the scooter and chatting about the Justin Timberlake party he went to recently. (We tried sooo hard to get the goss but all he'd tell us was that Justin busted some great moves on the dance floor - "he's such a dude!") If there's one band that J17 will always make time to hang out with, it's Busted. These boys will be boys - and we love 'em for it!

Charlie

How's life changed for you since Busted hit the big time?
Everything's got busier. I'm so tired! We don't get any free time any more.

What's the best bit about being famous?
The free stuff. We're getting an Xbox soon and I can't wait!

Have you got it on with any celeb girls?
Nope.

You sure? We heard you snogged Heidi Sugababes!
You heard! Ha! It's all lies! I didn't. No comment!

Okay, moody! If you see a girl you like, how do you make a move?
Sincerity is the key and that means no cringey chat-up lines. I always say, 'I know this sounds cheesy, but..' I don't really crash and burn with girls cos if I sense that something isn't going to happen, I don't bother trying.

What's your most embarrassing girl moment?
My mum walked in on me and a girl when we were in bed. We weren't doing anything except sleeping but I was, er, naked. My mum went crazy!

What's the Busted groupie situation like?
We have girls following us around and it's good. They're sweet girls.

Have you indulged in any groupie action?
No. Groupies' mothers are fine but not groupies!

Cheeky! Have you met Britney yet?
No, but I so want to. Apparently, she's heard our song and she likes it. J17 should let me interview her. Can you set it up?

Hmm, maybe.. if J17 were coming round to spend Friday night with Busted, how would you entertain us?
We'd have a light read from a nice book and then we'd watch a history documentary. Just kidding! We wouldn't stay in, we'd take you out somewhere for a top night. Maybe we'd go to a wicked gig or a cheesy club where we could dance all night!

What's been your best Busted moment?
Our album went in at No.2 in the UK charts, which was amazing.

Now you're huge in Planet Pop, have you been living a wild rock 'n' roll lifestyle?
Not really, but I go out a lot. I don't go to swanky celeb places and I've only been to the Met Bar once. It's not my sort of place.

When was your last crazy night out?
We went to Germany before Christmas and met up with Lee from Blue, who's an old friend of mine. It was messy! Charlie got drunk and puked in my bag. It was revolting. Charlie's got really smelly puke!

If you were throwing a theme party, what would you choose?
It's have to be 007 night and I'd be James Bond. Ladies look out!

Who'd be your celeb date?
Jennifer Love Hewitt.

Talking of girls.. when was the last time you crashed and burned?
About six months ago. I was in a lift with a girl I liked and we started kissing and we kept on going up and down so we could kiss more! The next time I saw her, I thought something was going on but she made it clear she wasn't interested.

Her loss! If a girl's coming on to you and you're not interested, what do you do?
I let them talk and then I say, 'Oh, my girlfriend's into that'. They usually get the message.

Are you still single?
Yep, but it might change soon. There's a girl I like and she likes me, so you never know. I just need to pluck up the courage to talk to her about it.

Damn! Do Busted all still live together?
Charlie's moving out this week but he'll still be in the same building. He's moving in with his brother. It won't be the same without him but it'll be cleaner!

James

So James, what's been a Busted highlight for you?
There's so many. It's all been really exciting cos it's kicking off all over the place. Our friends have been on holiday and have come back saying that they heard our song on the radio in Australia. It's mad!

Has being famous made it easier for you to get girls?
Not really cos I'm very fussy. I don't know why, it's not like I can afford to be!

Ahh! What's your chat-up style?
If there's a girl I like, I take my time. I never ask a girl out straight away. I like to weigh it up, work out my chances and decide on my approach!

Had any dating disasters?
One, but it was ages ago. I went up to this girl to ask her out, but I called her by the wrong name. She wasn't impressed. I blew it before I'd even finished the sentence!

What's your fave tune to get down with a girl on the dance floor to?
Justin Timberlake's solo stuff is great, so probably Like I Love You.

Who would you dance with?
Britney!

So c'mon, give us some goss about those Charlie and Heidi Sugababes rumours?
Seriously, I've never seen anything going on between those two. Obviously I've heard all the rumours, but as far as I know, nothing's actually happened.

Are you still single?
I'm not in a serious relationship but I'm seeing a few girls at the moment. I go on dates with them and sometimes I snog them.

How are you dealing with your fans?
It's great but we have loads of fans who find out our mobile numbers. I've no idea how they get them, but I've had to change my number three times recently cos they keep texting and ringing me. It's insane.

What's next for Busted?
We're touring this year and we can't wait to get started. It's going to be a great laugh. Also, we'll be starting work on our second album. No rest for the wicked!
