Busted are the brightest new band to electrify the pop world. The boys might only be fresh from battling puberty but they are already battling the rest of the world, and winning. Charles, 17, James, 19, and Matt, 19, have enjoyed a remarkable string of hit singles and Virgin.net decided to find out the secrets to their success..

VN: Busted! Thanks for joining Virgin.net. We have brought you Kinder Surprise Chocolate eggs.
Matt: 'This is incredible, thank you so much, I love Kinder Eggs - they are my favourite things in the whole world - how did you know?'

VN: I have my sources.
James: (anxiously biting through chocolate) 'What surprise have I got? Excellent! I think it is a toy car.'
Charlie: 'We might have to cancel the interview to let us enjoy our presents.'

VN: Sorry boys, questions first, chocolate and toys later. So tell us, how have Busted managed to make such a dramatic entrance into the pop world? You have enjoyed a string of huge hit singles, you are now one of the biggest pop bands in the UK..
Matt: 'Things have just happened so, so quickly, it has completely taken us by surprise. We did our first ever gig less than a year ago, our success has just been incredibly fast.'

VN: What exactly has happened on this remarkably short path to success?
James: 'Matt and I were friends and we put an advert in the NME for another band member. Charlie responded and things just clicked straight away.'
Charlie: 'Within three months of joining the band we got signed.'
James: 'No, Charlie, no, it wasn't three months.'
Charlie: 'Yes it was! (Charlie starts to get confused) Oh no wait, um, when did we sign our deal?'
James: 'It was five months after you joined!'
Charlie: 'No, it was three! Oh no, hold on, yeah you are right, ha ha, yeah it was five.'

VN: Have you boys been drinking?
Matt: 'You see things have happened so quickly we get confused!'

VN: You have managed to set yourselves apart from other boy bands because you write your own material. Is composing an important part of what you do?
James: 'Yes, definitely, writing for us is a very important thing. We would like to work with different producers like N.E.R.D. and the Matrix but we want to be the ones who write the songs.'
Matt: 'If we go into the studio with a track it is fine if a good producer adds things or changes details but we expect that. That does not mean they get writing credits for the track - a good producer should make changes and be able to put in a creative input.'

VN: What is the best part of being a Busted member - the girls? The money? The swanky haircuts?
Matt: 'Ha ha! That is a tough one!'
Charlie: 'The girls!'
James: 'The best thing is the opportunities that have become open to us. We have access to so many great things and top people. Anything we want to do in the entertainment world we now have a head-start.'
Charlie: 'Exactly, I would love to get involved in films and now I have a lot of new doors open to me.'

VN: You want to become an actor?
Charlie: 'Yeah I would love to be able to one day, I would certainly love to write music for films. With the contacts I have now if I wanted to be involved in the music for, say for example, the next big Disney movie then I would have access to the right people.'

VN: You want to become the next Phil Collins?
Charlie: 'Yes! Phil Collins is my hero ha ha, he is the master.'

VN: So how have you coped with your hordes of female fans, is having thousands of screaming girls chasing after you a horrible burden?
Matt: 'Ha ha! Yeah it is a real nightmare!'
Charlie: 'We are all very lucky!'

VN: Are you able to enjoy the attention, are you all single at the moment?
James: 'Yes! Unfortunately..'
Charlie: 'You do get to meet a lot of girls but we are just so busy with the Busted schedule it is hard to start a proper relationship.'

VN: Don't worry about that, pulling lots of girls is a delicate art, join me on the town tonight and I will teach you, show you where you have been going wrong..
Matt: 'Oh yeah we would appreciate that!'
Charlie: 'That would be great.'
