American idols

Miss the Busted boys? So do we! That's why we jetted to New York to join them on their US adventures..

Glamour alert! We're in New York and are sitting in Busted's super-swish penthouse apartment. We're gagging to dish their Stateside gossip. Like, have they had a rest in a restroom yet? And what's this about a Busted movie? Read on as we find out!

Wassup, dudes! How's life in the USA?
Matt: Great! We're really enjoying ourselves - but we do miss home, especially our fans..

What do you think of New York?
Matt: It's brilliant! (Sings) Start spreading the news, I'm gonna be a part of it.. NEEEEW YOOOORK!
Charlie: I think it's quite similar to London. There are loads of English people here, for a start.

Have you been sightseeing?
Charlie: We've done a bit. We went to the top of the Empire State building the other day. It's so high.
Matt: We're planning on seeing the Statue of Liberty soon and I want to do a helicopter ride in Manhattan.

So you're not scared of heights then?
Matt: No! I even did a bungee jump in Los Angeles. But I've never been so scared in my life.
James: I was supposed to go with him, but I got to the top and bottled it. I looked down and thought, 'No way!'

It sounds like you've really been having a laugh..
James: Some strange things have happened too, though. In Boston I was banned from playing pool in our hotel because I'm not 21.
Charlie: Shocking mate, shocking.

Have you been getting the hang of US slang?
James: Yes! And guess what? Busted is American slang for ugly. Kids over here say, 'you're busted,' which means, 'you're a right old minger.'
Matt: I think it's really weird how Americans call toilets restrooms. You don't go in there to rest - you go in there to have a wee or a poo.

What do you make of American food?
Charlie: I love it, but there's so much of it. I eat until I feel sick!
Matt: The food's so good I put on two stone last time I was in LA.

Has anybody recognised you yet?
Matt: Some people don't have a clue who we are. Once we were on stage and some guy said, 'Hey buddy! Do you do requests?' He thought we were a cover band!

Have you been hanging out with any US stars?
Charlie: We performed with Outkast and Janet Jackson in LA and we're doing a gig with Jay-Z and Avril in Long Island. Cool, eh?
James: And we hung out with Hermione from Harry Potter in LA. She really likes the band.

Would you like to be in a film now you've recorded the theme to the Thunderbirds?
Matt: Well, we've talked to people about doing a Busted film, but I'm not keen..
Charlie: It's a shocking idea! It'd be crap, like Spiceworld.
James: It's weird enough seeing our music on the credits of a major Hollywood blockbuster.
Matt: I'd only be in a film if we could do a cameo, like Blink 182 did in American Pie.
Charlie: Then we'd get to meet Tara Reid. She's so fit!

Have you met any nice American chicks?
Charlie: America is Fit Valley!
Matt: I haven't snogged any Americans yet. But I'd like to.
Charlie: The girls over here love an English accent. If you're English, you've got it made.
Matt: There was a really fit air hostess on our flight from Chicago to Boston. She did my seat belt up for me. It was brillaint.

If Busted had been born in America, what would you all be doing now?
Matt: I can imagine Charlie being a typical American hippy with a classic goatee beard. The beard would have weird little twigs in it.
Charlie: James would work at a burger joint, serving hamburgers.
Matt: And I'd be the President of the USA!

Like, fans!
What do American girls think of Busted?

Krystle, Florida
'I love Busted's music and their lyrics are really good too. We can't stop telling our friends about how amazing they are. In a year's time, they'll be No1 in the USA!'

Kim, Arizona
'I've flown for five hours to get to New York to meet those Busted boys. The band are chillin', for real, man!' Er, quite.
