Mattie, Charlie and James have enough cringey tales to make a polar bear go crimson with embarrassment. So now laugh, cry and scream in shame as we unveil the yuckiest, funniest and cringiest Busted stories, ever!
James
Not-so-smartie pants
Matt: I've caught James wearing my pants! When we lived together I'd do the washing which meant our clothes got mixed up. We both had a pair of identical pants and after a while I realised he had both pairs.. which meant he'd been wearing mine! I didn't have the heart to tell him - I just snuck them back next time I did the laundry.
Pop prince
Charlie: This is really embarrassing - James listens to Hilary Duff and talks passionately about Westlife songs all the time. I've heard all sorts come from his Discman when he thinks the volume's down - even N'Sync and the Backstreet Boys.
Star struck
Charlie: You should've seen James at Britney's party. She walked in and his jaw dropped. He stood there, mouth open, drooling. He looked ridiculous.
Shower shocker
Charlie: I once walked in on him whilst he was in the shower. That boy should lock the door because I saw everything.
Busted bits
James says: They're all bad but my most embarrassing moment was when me and Danny McFly went to Disneyland. There's this ride that, when it plunges straight down, really hurts your, ahem, bits. We were staggering about clutching our privates! Loads of fit girls were laughing at us.
Mattie
Mr Lurve
James: Mattie fancies the strangest girls but how's this for embarrassing - he used to fancy Kelly Osbourne! He's a sucker for girls with pink hair. What a strange boy.
Shy boy
Charlie: Mattie can be a bit of a geek in front of girls. On our first Smash Hits Tour, somebody arranged for Dannii Minogue to come and say hello to us in our dressing room. Normally Mattie's got the gift of the gab around girls, but when Dannii said hello he just froze and didn't say anything! He didn't realise there was a film crew standing behind him filming the whole thing either. Ha!
Footloose!
James: We were out on one of our famously chaotic nights with Lee Blue - now he is totally crazy. Anyway, Mattie somehow managed to lose his shoes. The next morning we felt really tired and awful. Mattie was walking around the airport with no shoes on. I felt so sorry for him I had to buy him a new pair!
Dinner disaster
Mattie says: It's all bad, I know. But it was really cringey when we were in Japan. We were taken to dinner with some posh record company types. Dinner was served and I lifted the lid on my tray. The plate was filled with some of the most disturbing things I've ever seen. Spiced conga eel? No thanks. I have to say I slipped out into the loos and was sick on the sly, which was bad 'cause I had to pretend to be loving the food!
Charlie
Sick bag
Mattie: One of Charlie's grimmest moments was in Germany last year. We were in Munich and had been out partyig with Lee Blue. After a long night on the town, Charlie and I finally got back to our room and fell asleep. But the next morning I woke up to find that Charlie had spewed in my bag! I was grossed out but, to be fair, he felt pretty stupid.
Diamond geezer
James: When we signed our record deal the record comapny took us to the BRITs. Our manager made Charlie wear this top which he thought was so cool - a horrible diamond tank-top, the sort of thing Will Young was wearing at the time. It was hideous! We were humiliated just standing next to him.
Potty mouth
Mattie: We're pretty big in Holland, and are often asked to go on kids' TV shows. But one time Charlie put his big old foot in it. Because the Dutch are quite relaxed when it comes to rules, Charlie thought he could get away with swearing. During the show he started coming out with some of the most disgusting words I've ever heard. He didn't realise it was a live show and was so embarrassing when they told him off afterwards.
TV shame
Charlie says: The worst was when we last visited Japan in October, we appeared on this Japanese pop show. The shows are usually pretty strange - we had to take part in this random game which involved us picking some colours on a blackboard. I had to do it first but didn't really understand it all. I was fumbling around, live on TV in front of millions - it was awful.
