>> The Plan *dun dun duuuun*

So, what's this little plan I've been cooking up lately? It's something that everyone who can record onto a computer can contribute to, and especially for people who can play an instrument (any, not just guitar). I plan, with your help, to make a CD in tribute of Matt, James and Charlie, collectively known as one of the best modern pop groups, Busted. Obviously, the plan is still in its early stages, but with your co operation and contributions, I think it could work really well.

To begin with, let me stress that to be part of the project, you do NOT have to be able to play an instrument, or even be a good singer. This is because the last song on the CD will be a collective song, a bit like Busted did in 2003 with What I Go To School For, where they recorded fans singing the chorus on their tour and then put it all together so it was about 40,000 fans on one song. This is, before you say anything, not going to be anywhere NEAR that big, but I'd like as many people as possible to do it.

At the moment, the song I have in mind for this is Everything I Knew, however I am open to better suggestions. Bear in mind though, that I chose this song not only because it seems to be one of the more popular Busted tracks, but also due to it not being too low for girls to sing (after all, Busted are guys, guys have low voices, lots of girls can't sing that low etc). So all you need to participate is, if you're not posh like Emily and have some recording studio equipment (:-p), some way of recording your voice onto your computer (using microphone or otherwise). However if you don't have one, it would be worth asking your friends as well, because someone you know is bound to have one.

In other songs, I am looking for anyone who would like to cover ANY of Busted's self-written tracks (ie. not songs that they covered). They don't have to be on the albums, and End Up Like This is also an option, as it was written by James in 2003.

You do not have to play guitar - it would be interesting to have, say, That Thing You Do played on piano. Feel free to modulate (change the key), do whatever you like to it as long as it's listenable, ha. You can record with a band, a friend, or do it yourself, I don't care! This is supposed to be fun, creative, and even if they don't get to hear it, make Busted proud!

I have also thought of people who have amazing voices (cause if lots of people are on the last track, no single person is likely to be heard above the rest - which also means that people who don't feel they have a good enough voice to sing a solo song can still be part of this) but can't play an instrument. For that, I'm thinking of making another CD just for the people that applies to. It depends how popular this gets. As I said at the start, this plan is in its very early stages - it was only yesterday (September 18th) that I even mentioned it to anyone else. So a lot of changes could be made, I hope we do get to go through with the whole thing, though.

To prevent everyone doing the same song, I'm going to make a list of who would prefer to do what on which instrument etc - we don't want five versions of Meet You There on acoustic guitar (especially when there's already one. :-p). Speaking of which, you can stay close to the original if you wish, or you can change the tempo (speed), dynamics (loud or soft), instrument or whatever - it's completely up to you. See the bottom of this page with details on how to contact me if you're interested.

And remember - EVERYONE who contributes in any way will get a mention in the credits of the CD.

I'll leave you thinking about it - here are some ideas to get you started:-
- rock up a slower song, for example Psycho Girl.
- play one of their songs on a different instrument (piano, flute, anything. If you play but don't know how to play Busted songs, I can scan pages from the Busted guitar tabs books if need be because they're written in score as well).
- you can experiment with songs; change the tune slightly, sing alternative lyrics, although it should at least resemble the song you're covering, otherwise I might wonder if you're trying to get a free plug of your band's new song. :-p!

Interested? I want to hear from you! Whether you want to sing on the finale track or do your own song, please email me and I'll take a note of your name and email address, and if you're doing your own song, please state which one(s) you'd like to do. :-)

I can't do this alone! So without you, it's simply not going to happen. Get emailing, and thank you all for your outstanding dedication to Busted.
